The Area Festival is an annual event that normally takes place in October/November and is usually held in Worcester Cathedral. It is also the event where successful candidates for Bronze and Silver Awards are presented with their medal and certificate.
The Festival is an opportunity for singers and choirs from around the diocese to come together for an afternoon of good singing and is often a chance to sing larger pieces of music that some smaller choirs would not normally tackle.
We welcome all singers from choirs, groups or individuals in the area (and sometimes from further afield), whether robed or unrobed. We usually plan at least two area rehearsal (one in the north of the diocese and one in the south) in the weeks leading up to the festival and these are open to singers who intend to come to the festival.
The Festival Service Book is produced and is sold in the months leading up to the event and contains all the required material for the service. To order you books go to How to pre-order you Festival Service Books.
The 2017 Festival is on Saturday 25 November.
The music includes some some well known pieces.
Introit: Confortare (Dyson)
Canticles: Brewer in E flat
Anthem: Blessed City (Bairstow)
